Comparison of fractions Basketball Game Online - eLearning Game for grade 3, grade 4, grade 5, grade 6 and grade 7.
This in an interactive game in which students are required to compare fractions with different denominators. Given that basketball is a popular sport which students love, we decided to integrate it within a game based learning concept. Students are required to answer questions correctly to get the chance to shoot a hoop. Problems have to be solved correctly to earn points. Each time, a problem will pop up containing two fraction values. Students have to select the correct answer. The choices are greater than, less than or equal to. Students have to pay attention to the fact that some fraction values look different if we judge based on the numerator and denominator. However, if the fraction is reduced to its lowest terms, it could be same as another fraction value. E.g. 50/100 is same as ½. When comparing fractions, pay attention to this aspect.
Game based learning balances a mastery of the subject matter with play. After playing a game, students leave excited and most often gain skills seamlessly. This is a great approach in math since children tend to consider the subject boring. Comparison of unlike fractions | compare fractions with the same denominator
